Tony Makes a Claim. Blogosphere Believes It. Again.

Cue Roger Daltry . . .

A local joke blog with a penchant for making stuff up about the Mayor (daughter in a towel) and other organizations (La Raza is coming) is now making assertions without evidence. Yawn. Blogs who were fooled before are making silly assumptions and demands based upon the probably-false "story". Snicker.

If that's what you're looking for here, or for a spirited game of "what if", you're going to be disappointed.

probably-false "story"

Doesn't sound like you have too much faith there Dan.

I say Tony and Dan make a bet. If Tony is correct about the story, then Dan goes off the net for 6 months. If Tony is wrong, then he goes of the net for 6 months.

Come on Tony, you said you had good sources, put up or shut up!

Come on Dan, you said the mayor and his wife aren't racist, put up or shut up!

Any takers? Lets see who has more faith in their position.

And I know Mark and his wife aren't racists.

Then why do Mark and his wife do racist things (black part of town, minutemen, eagle forum and mammy to start)?

Dan, I have seen a lot of attacks on Tony posted by you or someone claiming to be you, but I have not seen you say: The Mammy statements are not true, and neither are the claims of discriminatory compensation. Why do you insist on killing the messenger rather than the message Dan?

Do you know that you face liability if you help cover up a EEOC violation? Are you trying to influence the Jury Pool? Dan, Gloria and Mark seem to be taking you somewhere you DO NOT want to go.

I might add that Dan may also risk being complicit to nepotism.

Nepotism by law applies to the actions of an individual, as opposed the the actual title and pay of the individual.

There are many precedents where public officials have been prosecuted under nepotism laws based upon the actual actions of their relatives.

It's a very familiar dodge that people make providing their relatives authority and power under the guise of a volunteer.

Dan, what in the hell has happened to you? Seriously. Since Gloria Funkhouser entered the mayor's office you have turned into an arrogent jerk who continues grabs his ankles for the Funkhousers on any and all occaisions.

PP asks great questions when he/she asks "Then why do Mark and his wife do racist things (black part of town, minutemen, eagle forum and mammy to start)?"

As a longtime daily reader who really appreciated your blog I can honestly tell you that your opinion of how racist the Funkhouser's are really is not important to me as you lied to me and thousands when you failed to tell us that you are an advisor of theirs.

I don't care if you think they are racist, but when it comes to that PP person's statements I would like to see you say with 100% confidence and evidence "The Mammy statements are not true, and neither are the claims of discriminatory compensation."

I also have to ask when it comes to the Funkhouser's " Why do you always insist on killing the messenger rather than the message Dan?"

You never question them. You're letting your readers down man. Seriously.

Seems like some of the commentors on this blog have assumed the role of prosecutor, judge and jury of some person who has not been identified, charged or convicted. And, they've named a blogger as their chief witness for the alleged "crime", which is yet unspecified.

Incredible.

First off, if there's someone posting comments attacking Tony on posts involving the Mayor, it's not me. I stopped commenting on Tony regarding the Mayor months ago, because some of his commenters were getting scary, so I don't comment on his Funk posts at all.

Also, I don't attack Tony - he's s joke blog. Why would I? It's a type of performance art - the reaction is the message. When he posts something racist or sexist or anti-Semitic or anti-Funk or simply a lie, he's playing a game with the readership. Some get it, some don't. It's kind of like "negative space" journalism, if I can analogize to sculpture. When Tony, after engaging in months and months of race-baiting and fostering prejudices of all varieties, gets to use Mammy on his page and get people to think he can be taken seriously on race issues, we're not seeing reporting, we're seeing performance. And he's pretty good at it, too - he has a few very vocal, shamefully gullible people taking him seriously. It's art.

Back to dealing with his audience of suckers, though . . .

How is describing the neighborhood surrounding the Green Duck as "the black part of town" racist?

On Semler, she's only a Parks Board member, and he's expressed his disapproval of her positions on non-Parks issues. Manufactured issue.

Now, you want to talk about Mammy. Why would you want to do that - based on a joke blog? Where does this bloodlust for all things related to Funk come from?

You also want me to flatly deny the rumor. That shows your level of thought here, doesn't it? How could I possibly do that, and retain my integrity and well-earned reputation for truthfulness?

Can you swear to the truth or falsity of what was or was not said among people, some of whom you probably don't even know? It would greatly surprise me if it's true, but I can't flatly swear that it isn't without sinking to the level of a joke blog. Not gonna do it.

As for your legal theories, puh-lease! You have no idea how silly that stuff is. Go ahead, call a lawyer, and ask what she thinks of your theorizing.

I can't believe you actually said that. So should my black neighbor move out of Waldo and move over to the "black" part of town?

There is a big difference between saying that blacks make up the majority in an area and say it is the "black" part of town.

Should we go back to enforcing racial covenants? So "they" can be relegated to the "black" part of town?

Should we also have a "black" part of the bus? How about a "black" part of the lunch counter? Or a "black" part of the restroom? How about a "black" side of the waterfountain?

I had always heard that when you moonshine you do not want to drink the first draw because the toxins gather at the top, and that can blind you.

I guess the same goes for Home Brew, Squitiro Love Potion, Funkhouser Loyalty-Building, Kool Aid.

Seems like the old Kool Aid Drinker has "Gone Blind"

mainstream - HAS an EEOC claim been filed? I haven't seen a copy of it. Have you? Who filed it? Who witnessed it. What EXACTLY does the alledged EEOC claim say took place?

Since so many rabid, mouth-foamers seem to take think this is the greatest scandal since Watergate, I suggest that one of you "insiders" who seen to know so much pull a "Daniel Ellsberg".

If you REALLY think that this is that big a deal, go get us a copy of the EEOC claim, copy it, and post it on line. Then we all have proof.

But until I see something substantial, as far as I'm concerned this is just Tony plopping another smelly turd in the community punch bowl just to get the sort of kneee-jerk reation he loves so much.

And you, mainstream, are just another loyal TKC meat puppet who is apparently willing to take whatever Tony says as gospel and carry his water far and wide.

No XO I don't get spoon fed, and I don't have a copy of the EEOC complaint. To have a copy of it at this stage would probably be illegal, anyways.

I do know the general circumstances surrounding the complaint, and I have been hesitant to share them online, not necessarily because they're heresay (which they are) -- but because of you think the flames have been fanned so far, just wait til the real details come out.

It's bad, and it appears, at face value when you hear an outline of the real details, even worse. And when you consider the person harmed, it makes an impossibly bad situation even worse.

I'll let someone else break those details.

So what? Daniel Ellsberg was willing to risk prosecution and imprisonment to make The Pentagon Papers public because he thought it was the right thing to do. Put your balls where your mouth is (EWWW).

If this is really the biggest crises to face Kansas City EVER, go get the proof!

"I do know the general circumstances surrounding the complaint, and I have been hesitant to share them online, not necessarily because they're heresay (which they are) -- but because of you think the flames have been fanned so far, just wait til the real details come out.

What a complete and steaming pile of total, spineless bullshit! There isn't one single fact in anything you just posted.

If you KNOW something, spill it!

You CLAIM to have inside information but are apparently too much of an ass-covering chickenshit to even tell us what that information is, let alone tell us how you came by it, thereby failing to establish ANY credibility.

You say you can't reveal anything because "...if you think the flames have been fanned so far, just wait til the real details come out."

Yet by claiming that not only are all of the allegations true, but even worse, without offering A SHRED of evidence, you are, in fact, fanning the flames like a fucking blacksmith.

I am calling BULLSHIT until I see some PROOF.

Put up, or shut up!

Hey XO, why don't you switch to sign language?

You're the only one saying this is the crime of the century.

Although given the tone of and tenor of Dan's defense, you would think he's covering up a big deal.

Tell you what I'm going to do, XO. I'm going to keep on commenting just like I have been, and why don't you keep screaming for more facts.

Facts are good, and I can't wait to move on from the speculation stage on this deal into real discovery.

I'm a little surprised, though. I would have never pegged you as a defender of the Shoeless Wonder.

mainstream - I use sign language all the time. I only know one sign. It's a simple one. But it seems to apply to a great many situations. Including this one.

I'm not the one claiming this is the crime of the century. That would be TKC and his mindless meat-puppets who are calling for some sort of municipal jihad based on a single, unsubstantiated post by my favorite snack-cake-stuffed basement maturbator.

I'm not defending anything except FACTS.

Personally, I think that Gloria has NO PLACE WHATSOEVER in municipal government. No one elected her. She holds no office. She wields no officially sanctioned power. Her only place is an unofficial, domestic advisor in the Funkhouser home.

And while we are on the subject, any legally, constitutionally employed city official who doesn't have the balls to tell her to fuck off doesn't deserve to keep their job!

All I'm saying is that this whole issue is nothing more than Tony saying he heard something from someone about something.

There isn't A SINGLE SHRED OF ACTUAL EVIDENCE presented by ANYONE that would prove that this isn't just something that Tony made up in his mom's basement to entertain himself.

If you have something, cough it up!

You apparently swallowed it. Spit it up.

The EEOC complaint is real and not just a salary dispute as is currently being spinned by Funkhouser. It includes racism, salary, and hostile work environment. Gloria Squitiro is a named person in the letter of complaint. Documentation in the form of records and personal affidavits are made available to the EEOC investigators. Lynn Breshears is the attorney of record. Dan, if you are a real insider you would have known all of the above weeks ago. Perhaps your good name is only what Squit and Squat wanted, not your professionalism.
So, here we are. Now where do we take this? Do we dare raise the hope that city resources will not be squandered defending Squitiro? Funkhouser, as Mayor is covered by our law department, but not his wife.
And, in closing, if you walk and talk like a racist, 99% of the time you are a racist. I have had a hard time coming to grips with the thought that a man whom I HAD valued is so terribly wrong when it comes to equality and justice.
