Gloria Squitiro Having the Last Laugh?

Lately, City Councilmembers have been so twisted up inside with their seething need to run the Mayor's office that they even missed the humorous irony in their complaints that their own bogus volunteer ordinance is creating a circus atmosphere. When they're not threatening each other or behaving unprofessionally, they're whining and manipulating and pointing fingers.

Not a fun bunch to be around.

That's why it was so refreshing to see this light-hearted exchange between the always-controversial Richard Tolbert and Kansas City's favorite First Lady, Gloria Squitiro. In it, Mr. Tolbert proposes marriage, and Gloria accepts, with a letter to Mark explaining her decision. "He's a much more experienced politician than you are, and to top it off, he's much less controversial." Of course, if Mark and Gloria split up, there's an additional twist - "You are now free to hire me to work in the Mayor's office. That is, if you think you can afford me."

It's good to see that someone in City Hall still has a sense of humor and an ability to rise above the sniping and lying. No wonder Mark Funkhouser wants her in his office. I wish each of our City Councilmembers had someone like her around. It might do them some good.

That's quite an article that Dan refers to. Tolbert says in that same article:

"I would still vote for Funkhouser again because he still talks a good game, even though he lacks the political skill to make good on his promises."

Now that is funny.

Isn't it great that Gloria is willing to joke around with someone who is moderately critical of the Mayor? It shows she has a much better sense of humor and level of class than her popular image.

The hyperlink DOES NOT contain any "light-hearted exchange". It's just an article.

The "exchange" is in the comments.

I don't believe that is "actually" Gloria commenting - just a very creative commenter...

Wow, you'll pick up on any piece of crap to try and defend the co-Mayors, won't you?

When you have to resort to a defense from Richard Tolbert, you really can't go much lower....

Richard Tolbert? I guess he and funkee have one thing in common: both of them own real estate that they think is worth more than it really is.

Hi guys, I know Mr. Tolbert, I know Funkhouser, I know Squitiro.

They all have a good sense of humor and are witty. The unknown attack monkeys who are out to destroy Mayor Funkhouser are not witty.

The unknowns are just lying uncreative losers who would rather hate someone - rather than offer constructive dialog.

Thanks for your posts, Mr. Mild

Huh. Now, explain to me how is Gloria having the last laugh?

12-1 today.

Not a proud day in Kansas City history, but necessary due to the mayor's actions.

"12-1 today. "

Not to pick nits, but it was only 11-1 today....

I imagine we'll see our esteemed co-Mayors try to get some restraining order against the ordinance tomorrow, claiming unconstitutionality, although no one seems to be able to explain why it is so...

thanks for pointing that out. Shoulda said 11-1.

no one can explain exactly why the law is so bad, very true.

And since ordinances typically are effective 10 days after they're enacted, I'm not sure when the ten day ticker started, from today or last thursday.

Security guards need to step in and keep her from getting on the elevator.

That's a fair "hmmmm", I think. I normally loathe deleting comments, but I've seen Ina's comments and boorish behavior elsewhere, and I have no interest in seeing that sort of thing take over here. If he ever manages to post something that raises serious points and doesn't include juvenile name-calling, I'll be happy to host it. But I find his behavior elsewhere to be beneath contempt, so I am not going to let him get started here, unless he actually wants to participate in intelligent discussion.

I've had plenty of disagreements with you, but you're of a different quality.
