Missouri Free Market Failure

Those of us who keep a close eye on free market extremists have been watching for the launch of "The Missouri Record", a lobbyist-run "independent" site promoting deregulation at the state and local levels. For a while now, the Missourians for Responsible Government have maintained a web address promising the launch of a "A Journal of Politics and Policy" in April.

Now that April has passed into history, those who purport to insist on responsibility for government have failed to live up to their self-imposed responsibility to launch a website on time. Now they claim they will launch it in May . . .

So far, the "Missouri Record" is simply yet another amusing example of those who like to talk about responsibility for others tending not to practice it themselves.

Wow, you've got this Making-Mistakes-to-Increase-Blog-Hits thing down pat. I've responded to your post about The Missouri Matters on our own blog. Do tell, who are the lobbyists that you say run the organization?

Msrkenson?

I hope you print as bold a retraction for your mistake as I did for mine.

Make that Markenson.

BTW, Patrick, when you issue your apology, why don't you go ahead and open up your site for comments? Don't you think it's kind of hypocritical for a "free market" blog to use the comments section of other blogs, but not allow the same freedom of expression on their own?

Ah, you have us confused. Merkenson's (?) "Missourians for Responsible Government" is a MEC-regulated PAC, and I don't know much about them. But yes, they appear to be a shill for energy companies and developers.

Our group, which is different, is a 501(c)4 which is not regulated by the MEC. They are completely different organizations. A Google search may have shown this, as Merkenson has written in opposition to eminent domain reform; reform that I worked to promote in 2006.

Of course, simply calling or emailing to confirm this could have cleared it all up for you. Just as the same would have done for the recall petition.

Oh, and yes, i am eagerly awaiting those blasted liberal web builders to finish the comments link on my blog, just have they have done on the commentary section.

Patrick - let me copy a line from your site, and you can try to explain it away, okay? On your "About us" page, your site states quite clearly - "Publisher: Missourians for Responsible Government".

Furthermore, the webpage for Missourians for Responsible Government describes the Missouri Record as its "flagship publication."

Perhaps you speak the truth - perhaps you don't know much about the organization you are working on the flagship publication. If so, it doesn't seem like writing to you would do much good, since I know a lot more about it than you admit to knowing.

Finally, don't you think it's time to stop blaming liberals for the failures for which you are responsible?

I thought my post above made this clear. There are two different organizations (Missourians for Responsible Government) with the same or similar name. Two different organizations. I incorporated one Missourians for Responsible Government.

Markenson works with the other Missourians for Responsible Government.

I don't know how to make it more clear.

Are those not the exact same names? That's wild! Which one had it first?
