John Fogerty? Why?

Yesterday was a great day to watch a bunch of good football, capped off with a great Chiefs victory. I loved it.

But can anyone explain why loyal football fans were subjected to not just one, but TWO, horribly lame performances by a washed-up, not-a-has-been-because-he-never-really-was
John Fogerty?! Even the sparse crowds brought on to the field to stand in front of the stages were looking bored, and checking their watches.

Worse yet, we had to watch him and his family get flown on private jets and driven in limos (why wasn't that little girl in a car seat, or at least a seat belt???), just like he is still a real rock star.

Was Corey Hart busy?

Bill Simmons over at ESPN2 once mentioned his theory that NFL executives think the very height of popular music was 1983.

Even by those standards, Fogerty WAS an odd choice. I'm surprised that John Mellencamp wasn't available.

John Fogerty is a genuine rock and roll legend!

Credence Clearwater Revival? Duh!

John Mellencamp is just a John Fogerty wannabe.

Do ya think Fogerty colors his hair?

XO - CCR was okay back in the day. A worthy opening band for someone exciting, but you cannot dispute that Fogerty sucked horribly on Thanksgiving. Even the people paid to dance in front of the stage looked like they were wishing they could walk away from the embarassment.

Fogerty has been on Leno and alot of other shows recently. He is indeed a legend....like all legends though the aging process can make you look lame. Its ok...like an political figure he is there to remind us how lame we once were in our adoration?

I thought he did OK for a guy who has to be about 87 years old.

Well, John Fogerty was performing because he has an album to promote. His live album came out Oct 31. Gotta move some records.

John's halftime performance was a disappointment. I've seen Fogerty in concert four times and he's one of the most energetic, engaging performers I've ever seen. He's someone who actually looks HAPPY to be on stage performing. Sadly, that didn't come across in a six minute halftime concert.
