Benson Won

That's the scoop of the day. Other blogs would use red letters, claim an exclusive, and indulge in exclamation points, but that's not the way this one rolls.

Benson won.

What I don't get is why, if Benson is in charge, doesn't he fire Krause? No one likes her and her attitude stinks. People with her skill set are a dime a dozen, can her and get someone who wants to be there. Besides, you can't trust a German, Benson should know that by now.

"you can't trust a German"

Did you really mean to say that?

*sigh* Dan, you know this as well as I, that...

When you call attention to the fact that you're not calling attention to yourself, you're actually calling attention to yourself.

Perhaps in a much more subtle and less-obnoxious way, but still, you're doingthe same thing Tony is.

Admit it.

:o)

Whistleblower -

Cut some slack on Mr. Vard - sitcom humor deserves some latitude.

Mainstream -

You are unusually insightful today, though i will argue that the subtlety and non-obnoxiousness is what makes me special . . .

You're correct, it is.

Nice job of making a virtue of your utter lack of design and formatting skills. I like that in a guy.

I'm sure a big proponent of beer like Bull is only jesting at the German comment. I'm pretty sure he's supported the economy of many small german communities on the basis of his beer consumption alone.

"If the city doesn’t back off deep funding cuts for the Kansas City Zoo, the national Association of Zoos and Aquariums may cancel its 2013 annual convention it just booked here two weeks ago."

Dan, should Funk pay up or not? You originally said Funk shouldn't fire Selmer. So know we have a somewhat similar situation.

Should Funk give into the demands of this outside group?

Will you later write a post like this:
The Zoo Association thought it could bully our mayor around. In fact, they could have. Who doubts that he would have gone pretty far with concessions and compromises? But the Zoo Association made the mistake of drawing their line in the sand, and pushing for the right to control every single budget in this city, down to the Zoo. And nobody in his or her right mind wants that.

You, other bloggers and talk radio have really cut the Zoo Association a lot of slack. At least La Raza didn't ask for almost a half million dollars. If anything, the Zoo Association's demands are much more repugnant than La Raza's. La Raza didn't want an appointee that was seen as racist, where as the Zoo Association wants its friends to get a big bucket of money.

I didn't know monkeys could type.

Sounds like someone's gonna lose their cage and daily rations of banannas, lettuce and julienned zucchini.

pathetic little convention threat that everybody is doing such a fine job of simply ignoring.

You made my point exactly. Brown people threaten to pull out and you and everyone else go ape shit about how wrong La Raza is and shouldn't be meddling in city affairs. The Zoo Association pulls the same stunt and no one complains a bit.

Why was everyone so acrimonious about La Raza, but no one says a single bad word about the Zoo Association.

When La Raza tried to control volunteer appointments you felt the need to bash them.

Now the Zoo Association is trying to control the city budge, and you say you are going to ignore them.

So what is the difference between these two groups? Why did La Raza get such bad press from you and everyone else, but the exact same actions from the Zoo Association get a media blackout?

I see - it was the former.

La Raza raised a fuss, and won some concessions. They had skills at this game.

The zoo association is doing its best to raise a fuss, but nobody cares a rat's patootie, and they're not going to get any concessions. They have no skills at this game.

Now, for just a second, drop your assumption that I (along with all the other commentators in KC) am a hateful, hypocritical racist, and think about what is happening here.

Catching on?

Are you saying that Benson beat Gov Gatling? I thought they left that as an unanswered cliffhanger?

The fox has entered the hen house. Only in America could this happen. Artie Benson on the school board? Yeech! It will be interesting to follow him and to see how he monetizes this position.

What a horrible and stupid thing to say! Art Benson is smart. You can't argue with that. Art Benson is informed - you can't argue with that, either. Art Benson is passionate about education - again, that's inarguable.

So, all you bring is a personal attack, rather than a criticism of any position he has taken.

I didn't get to vote in that election, so I haven't studied his positions, but I've met him several times, and expect him to be a good member.

I was talking to Arthur Benson on Friday about how laughable it was that local bloggers were claiming he ran for the school board position because of money. That would be the last position anyyone would want to make future money.

Also, he said that he doesn't read any local blogs, so feel to post crazy anti-Benson slurs.

Arthur Benson is supporting Marilyn Simmons as school board president. That is the only position that matters, and it's all I need to hear to know that he's no different than any of the other fools that have used those chairs in the last decade.
