Ten Dollars for Tony's City Hall Credibility?
Back in mid-July, when Tony became "One Trick Tony" with his "Bash-a-Day" obsession over Kansas City's Mayor, he started a "Cauthen Countdown", because he was convinced that Funkhouser was going to fire City Manager Wayne Cauthen.
While I had never discussed Cauthen with Funkhouser or anyone on his staff at the time, I knew that Tony knew as little about City Hall politics as he does about Sprint Center parking, so I offered a little wager - I'd donate $10 to a charity of his choice if Cauthen was gone by 10/26, and he would do the same to a charity of my choice if Cauthen was still in place.
It's now looking like I was right, though the date hasn't yet passed. Is Tony still confident that he was correct in his "Cauthen Countdown"? Or was it all just a shout for attention - one that he would rather forget now that events have undercut his credibility on the issue?
Kind of places his talk of Funkhouser's lack of popular support into a different perspective, doesn't it? It certainly sets the credibility bar for Tony's talk of recall . . .

OH NO. NOT MY CREDIBILITY!!!
Let's not forget that Funkhouser was shut down when he tried this move and what he's doing now is trying to take credit for the work of the Council.
Also, the poll that you cite is yet another blog entry by Mr. Boomshakalaka who has been Mayor Funky's biggest fan at The Star.
Still, thank you for the post about me. Those are always my favorite.
In all seriousness, I knew you wouldn't mind.
I agree and understand that your blog is about buzz, not credibility, which is fine. I just like to remind people of that every now and then.
We would both hate to see people start taking a joke blog seriously.
I hate to break up the lovefest, but Comic Book Guy, I mean Tony of TKC, is a joke. Credibility? He just called Chris Stigall "white scumbag". Can you imagine if Stigall or any other white media figure called a latino a Mexican scumbag? TKC's demise is sealed - don't try to prolong it.
This is old time politics.
Funkhouser is still settling old scores from his time on City Hall staff -- Wayne is next in the box. A failure to communicate backed up with an iron fist.
It is Funkhouser's basic dishonesty that bothers me the most, if he wants to hang Wayne out to dry, he should just present his case and do it. Of course that is tough to do in a weak mayor system, because the framers of the charter did not want the mayor to be able to bully the city manager -- like Funkhouser is trying to do here.
The problem is that Wayne has done a good job, so that does not leave the vindictive mayor much to talk about when presenting his case for political lynching.
In other words, Tony is right on this one as he is with the Semler controversy. Funkhouser is a sham reformer, he is an old time boss.
Dam, I thought everything Tony wrote was true.
Besides that he has the best blog to read.

You could scarcely be more incorrect if you tried. Even if you tried to run a joke blog, you couldn't be as wrong as you are.
Do you want a piece of the action? I say that Cauthen will be in office 6 months from now with a revised contract that represents the priorities of his job. You say he'll be gone, or working under his current contract. Loser gives $10 to a charity of the winner's choice. You in?
I wish Tony had been right about LaRaza. It looks like KC is out 5 million from that convention and we may lose the NAACP convention next.
Makes me wish I had supported Stan Glazer now. At least he knew how to sell the city.
Here is my question to everyone. Which is worse:
1. Mayor Kay putting the city in debt with shaky loans and TIFF deals.
2. Mayor Funky putting the city in debt by pissing on anyone that wants to have a convention here.
I can tell you that the city will not be losing the millions that you mention. There are lots of groups wanting to bring their conventions to KC and by the end of the year there will be another organization filling that slot.
The long lasting impact that the local hispanics have brought upon themselves will continue for years to come in the daily lives of those who would have participated in the convention being in KC.
In time the real facts behind this will come into the light and I believe that it will surprise everyone. In my opinion, it was never just about Semler. Things are never quite as simple as they seem.
Quite frankly, I am impressed that our Mayor did not buckle under to the arm twisting that has been going on here.

Exactly! If anything Funkhouser needs to bring more Minutemen into his administration. Its damn time we get some real patriots in government!
Nobody had ever even heard of La Raza until they started rasing a stink over Simler.
Come, stay, go away...nobody cares.
Yet ANOTHER group who is overestimating their own importance and influence.
